I loved the card. Message inside was perfect (just like I requested) Only comment - the picture seemed too large for the card (glue showing on the side) Next time I will down size the picture. I have ordered many cards from fineartamerica and have been very pleased with the artist selection and quality of the art. Paul Cutright

Artist's Description

The title refers to the name of the village in Ohio which is home to our old family farm. The land and the structures themselves don't really look much like this painting, but they are, nevertheless, the inspiration for this work, and many memories. The technique of painting one line at a time, while letting each one dry before painting the next, came from the days of drawing with dual-tip brush pens. It takes some time, but, ironically, the effect is less predictable, particularly in the sky. In other words, with a "wash," one has a good idea right away of the flow and fell of the sky, within second, in fact. Doing the lines, on the other hand, leads me into the unknown, but takes days to unfold. I never know all the twists and turns, or even all the color variations, until the sky is nearly done.

About Scott Kirby

Scott Kirby

Visions of the Great Plains consists of drawings and watercolor paintings inspired by the American Great Plains, by Scott Kirby. Referred to as an accidental artist by Sandpoint Magazine, Kirby began painting in 2005, after 9 months of drawing with dual-tip brush pens. Although the attempts to capture these mostly imagined visions are quite intentional, the origins of Kirby's transition from music to art was, in a way, accidental, and unexpected. While drawing with his daughter Sara one afternoon, Kirby was suddenly compelled to continue into the night and following days, being bombarded by mental images which demanded expression. Weeks turned into months, and drawing turned into painting, all scenes rooted in a long relationship with...
